Privacy Policy

LunArc is built for photographers who want to plan their shots with care. We've applied the same care to your privacy. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and what we never do.
LunArc requires no account, no login, and no personal information. You are identified only by an anonymous device ID generated locally on your phone.

What we collect
LunArc collects the minimum necessary to make the app work:
- Location (GPS) — used to calculate moon rise and set times, compass heading, and moon window predictions for your saved shots. Your exact coordinates are stored locally on your device and uploaded to secure cloud storage only as part of shot metadata. We never sell or share your location.
- Camera — photos you take in LunArc are stored locally on your device and backed up to private cloud storage (Supabase) associated with your anonymous device ID. Photos are never accessible to anyone other than you.
- Device motion and orientation — compass heading, pitch, and tilt at the moment you take a photo. Used solely to calculate the field of view for moon window predictions.
- Anonymous usage analytics — basic event data (e.g. "user opened app", "moon window viewed") associated only with a randomly generated anonymous ID. No name, email, or personal identity is ever attached to this data. Used to understand how the app is used so we can improve it.
What we never collect
- Your name, email address, or any personal identity
- Your contacts, calendar, or any other app data
- Any data for advertising purposes
- Any data sold to third parties
Anonymous device ID
On first launch, LunArc generates a random identifier and stores it locally on your device. This ID has no connection to your identity — it is simply a way to associate your photos and saved shots with your device across app sessions. If you delete and reinstall LunArc, a new anonymous ID is generated.
Third-party services
LunArc uses the following third-party services:
- Apple WeatherKit — provides current weather data (temperature, cloud cover, precipitation, visibility) for your current location. Subject to Apple's WeatherKit terms. Weather data is fetched in real time and not stored.
- Supabase — provides secure cloud storage for your photos and anonymous analytics events. Photos are stored in a private bucket accessible only via time-limited signed URLs. Supabase processes data in accordance with their privacy policy.
Photo storage and security
Photos you take in LunArc are stored in two places:
- Locally on your device in the app's private file system
- In a private Supabase Storage bucket, accessible only via time-limited signed URLs generated by the app
Photos stored in Supabase are associated with your anonymous device ID only. They are not viewable by The Massive Works Company or any third party. Only the app on your device can generate a signed URL to view your photos.
Data retention
Your photos and shot data remain in cloud storage until you delete them within the app. Anonymous analytics events are retained for up to 12 months. You can request deletion of all data associated with your anonymous device ID by contacting us at hello@getlunarc.com.
Children's privacy
LunArc is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of LunArc after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
